The oldest dealership in Northwest Ohio, Taylor Auto sales has been a family-owned and operated business since 1946. Before joining the Navy in 1943, Don Taylor sold his first car - a 1928 Chevrolet 2-door coupe for $150 and a new paint job. After coming home from the Navy, Don opened a small, four car lot at the corner of Cherry and Main in Van Wert. In 1961, Taylor’s was then moved to it’s current location on Walnut Street in what used to be the Auburn Taxi Service building. After an unfortunate motorcycle accident left him unable to work, Gary Taylor, Don’s son, became the youngest car salesman in the state of Ohio. After Gary graduated, the dealership was incorporated by Don and Gary.
